An annual summer gleaning project
A team from Zion made its first visit to a pickle farm near Genoa Monday and will gather pickles two days a week until the harvest ends.
The team packs 28 boxes of pickles each day that it works, then delivers them to various food-assistance sites in the greater Toledo area. We have a great time, and the effort usually takes only about 30 minutes.
The team works at 7 a.m. each Monday and Thursday, and those who wish to help should contact either Chuck Smith or John Tolliver for instructions on where and when to report. The farm is just a minute or two outside Genoa.
Discussion:
Pickle packers hard at work
