Letter from our new Pastor....

Posted on Wed, Jun 14, 2017

Dear Elliston Zion Family,

My name is Diana and I have been appointed to serve you as pastor. Honestly, I could not be more excited! I was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio with my closest extended family all living in Metamora, Ohio. I joke that I am half country farm girl, half city girl. I spent much of my youth romping around my Grandparent’s farm, climbing the fruit trees, adventuring in the forest and playing with the dog, Trina. When I was told that the Bishop wanted to place me in a rural church, I was delighted!

I went to Start High School and graduated in 2002. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo in 2011. I graduated from United Theological Seminary in 2015 with my Master of Divinity degree. I have been serving as associate pastor at The University Church in Toledo for several years. And now, God has called me to the next great thing: serving all of you at Zion!

I will hold office hours on Mondays from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please stop by! Always feel free to call, text or email. My contact information is listed below. I am the Mom of a very active toddler and she often requires my full attention. This means that I usually struggle to get to the phone as I am busy struggling with potty training, making meals or giving piggy back rides. I return calls and texts when she goes down for her nap and when she goes down at night. If it is an emergency, such as someone in the hospital in critical condition, please call me twice in a row and I will know that it is an emergency and call you back ASAP. I will refrain from returning calls, texts or emails on Saturdays because it is my Sabbath day with my family. My husband works long, unpredictable hours. Saturday is our only day to be together. I will be at the church 3-4 days a week and working a minimum of 20-25 hours.

Friends have been asking me if I asked for a new appointment. The truth is, I did not ask for a move. This change is a happy surprise! I just keep falling more in love with all of you and I see God clearly at work in this process. I feel so blessed to be appointed to your church! I look forward to being with you and preaching the gospel on Sunday, June 25th, 2017. There will be a meet and greet coffee hour after worship. I will share about my call and my journey before coming to be your pastor. I hope to see you there!
